Have any of you ever had a male that wouldn't mate? I have his crest tied up. He is on a good diet. Lots of water with vitamins. Has been wormed. Lots of light. I have checked eggs and they haven't been fertilized. The hen is laying and does the squat for me, so I don't' get what his problem is. Any suggestions?

it could be that he's simply not interested in that hen. or he may need to be check over for parasites such as worms. is the breeding pen nearby another breeding pen? sometimes having another rooster beside will get the testosterone flowing and the desire to mate to prove he is the dominant rooster. you may want to simply trim the crest rather than pull it back as it could be putting strain on his head causing stress.

His pen is actually between two other pens and both of those pens have birds mateing. I have had this pair for over a year and never seen him mate. He won't even mate other girls either he just flogs them. I have wormed him and last year I just plucked feathers so he could see better. He just doesn't do it. I have even isolated him for a period of time. ??
