Shape of male

COMB: V-shaped-small,well defined,resting on front of crest,each side level

CREST: Large, well feathered, rising well in front so as to not obstruct sight, flowing well over sides and back of neck in a compact even mass, feathers similar in shape and texture to those of the hackle.

BEAK:Short and stout, broad at base,well curved  Nostrils: Large , wide, cavernous, rising above curved line of beak.   FACE: Fine in quality, free from wrinkles or folds. EYES: large ,round, bold  WATTLES: Small, well rounded, nearly concealed by beard.  EAR LOBES: Small,entirely concealed by muffs.  HEAD: Large in comparison with size of bird and with a decidedly prominent protuberance on forward section of skull, crested.  MUFFS &BEARD: Composed of feathers turned horizontally backwards, from both sides of beak, from the center, vertically downwards, the whole forming a collar of three ovals in a triangular group, giving a muffled effect.  NECK: Medium length, nicely arched. HACKLE: Abundant, flowing well over back and shoulders. BACK: fairly long,broad, not high at shoulders, slightly sloping to base of tail.. SADDLE:Abundant, flowing over wing tips and filling space between abdomen and tail coverts.  TAIL: Full, well spread,carried well back, increasing apparent length of bird, held at an angle of about 50 degrees above the horizontal. Main tail- feathers wide and neatly overlapping; well expanded. Sickles & lesser sickles- abundant, long, wide, well curved. Coverts- abundant, long. WINGS: Moderately long and large, closely folded, carried  above thighs. Shoulders & fronts- concealed by breast and hackle. Bows- well rounded. Coverts- prominent, feathers broad, forming two distinct rows across wings. Primaries- moderate width, completely concealed by secondaries. Secondaries-broad, tapering convexly to stern, tips concealed by hackle. BREAST: Wide across shoulders,deep, full,  projecting well beyond wing fronts. BODY & STERN: Body- moderately long, compact, well proportioned. Stern- fluff; fairly short. LEGS & TOES: Legs- heavily muscled, widely set, straight when viewed from front. Lower thighs- medium length, stout, large, tapering neatly to hocks. Shanks- medium length, nicely scaled. Spurs- hard, fine, incurved, set slightly high, above the fifth toe. Toes- five, the three front, straight, well and evenly spread; the hind toe double,the normal toe in natural position and the extra toe placed above, starting from close to the other toe, but well formed and curving upwards. APPEARANCE: Bold, active, somewhat oblong in profile.

BODY & STERN: Body- moderately long, compact, well proportioned, rather oblong. Stern-fluff; fairly short. LEGS & TOES: Shanks- widely set, straight when viewed from front. Lower thighs- medium length, large, stout at base, tapering to hocks. Shanks- medium lenght, nicely scaled. Toes- five, the three front, straight, well and evenly spread;the hind toe double, the normal toe in natural position and the extra toe placed above, starting from close to the other toe, but well formed and curving upwards.  APPEARANCE: Bold, active, somewhat oblong in profile.

DISQUALIFICATIONS

Absence of fifth toe-Absence of knob, or globular tuft, on forward section of skull, commonly called "crest".

DEFECTS

Divided or Split crest- Poorly developed beard and muffs- neck that is too long, thin or straight- Low carriage of wings- hollow or shallow breast- any semblance of stiltiness-Appearance of being off balance in front.
