Hello Directors and Members of the Polish Breeders Club

As you may have heard the ABA National meet has been awarded to the Northeastern Poultry Congress.

My name is Cheryl Barnaba and I am writing today to tell you about our show.  The Congress as we call it is New England’s premiere show.  The show is held in West Springfield Mass at the Big E Fairgrounds.  We have the largest and most modern facilities on the grounds.

I am hoping with this letter to entice the Polish Breeders Club to host your 2010 National with us.  We have all the things I think Polish breeders want.  We have great lighting, heat, meeting rooms, and we have GREAT quality Polish.

The show is held in January on Martin Luther King weekend.  In 2010 the dates will be January 16th & 17th.  This has proven to be a popular weekend with many of our long distance exhibitors as many have Monday the 18th off in observance of Dr. King.  I will speak more on the month later in this article.

Our Hall is spacious to say the least at 129,400 square feet. Our show is entirely single tiered and on stands. In fact we have so much space our cooping capacity is virtually unlimited.

I must say our building and our hotel are top notch.  But please note that if you choose to hold your National with us you will be getting the best show staff in the Country.  We have over 40 members who work very well together to consistently put on a great show.  We all get along really well and love offering a quality show.  We also have many of the Nations top judges who are members at the Congress.

The Poultry Congress consistently draws 2000 birds.  The building is so big that space is not an issue at all.  We also have plenty of space for meeting areas and chairs.  There is a private meeting room available for your use as well.   On top of this we have ample room for vendors, breed clubs and bird sales.   So not only are we a single tiered show, we are under-one-roof show as well.

This show attracts LOTS of chicken curious people, and folks looking to buy birds and learn more about poultry.  Admission is free.  In fact this year the day people bought out our sales area in two hours.  They seem like they are dying to learn more so I suspect this is an excellent venue to sign up new members.

We are planning on doing something special along the lines of awards for any club who hosts a national with us. I must tell you we have a blanket policy of not giving out cash to attract breed clubs.  We feel that our well-run show and venue are of high value.  However if the Polish Club only takes its National’s to clubs than can afford payment, maybe we can take up a collection can and see if we get some donations.

How ever we can certainly provide your club with its pick of our judges, and plenty of space for your promotions.  And we will be happy to accommodate most any other request you may have!

Our entry fees are currently 3.50 per bird for the open show.  Parking for exhibitors is free.  Early coop in on Friday is offered from 2 - 8:00 PM.  Requirements for entry are a current pullorum certificate issued by the exhibitor’s state office concurrent with NPIP rules.  As of this writing there are no AI requirements.  This is going to be a big value to many of your exhibitors.

We are pleased to host the largest junior show in New England.  We take great pride in a “Families First” attitude. We have a very competitive junior showmanship class.  We also have a judging class and a just for fun Skill a Thon.  We give Junior class awards in the form of cash and medals.  We also place junior winning birds on a special Junior Champion Row located right next to Open Champion Row.

Well not only are we blessed with a great Poultry Hall and great Volunteers, the Poultry Congress has TONS of places to stay.   In Fact there are 20 nearby hotels brimming with over 2500 rooms.  These hotels range from top notch to “nothing fancy”.  And they are all close by.

Bradley Airport is an easy 22-mile ride from the show hall. We do not conflict with any other major event in the area during our show, which adds to the ease of travel.

For folks who like to drive around, Springfield offers many attractions.  Included locally are the Basketball Hall of fame, and the Dr. Suess National memorial.  A bit further down the road is Magic Wings Butterfly Farm (30 miles).  And for our professional shoppers the Yankee Candle Village is a must see (its also 30 miles from the Fairgrounds).  If that’s not enough for our exhibitors the very famous Mohegan Sun Casio is 72 miles away.

OK so here is the part of the letter I must address the issue of the Month of January !

The Northeastern Poultry Congress does offer all the amenities that your Polish Breeders Club would need for a National Meet; but what about the weather?! Plainly stated it is January, and it is New England.   And as you know the Weather is the one thing we can not control.  However in the 36 years we have been holding this show we have had only one serious snow storm that had an impact on our show.

As one of our senior members pointed out; you can have a hurricane in the South, or a tornado in the West.  So yes weather can impact us, but we seldom have a problem.

Polish are amongst the most perfect of fowl.  I never get sick of viewing them.  I feel like I am in a living museum when I attend a special meet of the Polish Club.  We would love to have your Club come and be a part of our ABA National.  Its so exciting for us !  We are a proud, happy bunch who have a special gift for presenting a perfect show.

Please consider holding your 2010 Polish Breeders Club National with us at the Northeastern Poultry Congress.

I will be happy to field whatever questions your club may have.

Dear Polish Breeders Club,

The Wisconsin International Poultry Club would like to place a bid for your 2010 National Meet.  The show dates for our show are September 25th and September 26th, 2010 in Portage, Wisconsin.  Our club has hosted several large National meets in the past several years and has received many wonderful comments.

If your club were to place the 2010 National meet with us, we would offer the following:

            * If early enough, (by November 1st, 2010), you may suggest a judge that you would like to judge your National                       meet.  Otherwise you may choose from our slate of judges.

            * Your National would be the first to be judged in the morning.  We would set a Champion row of your choice.

            * We will provide the National show with four nice new trophies for Champion and Reserve Champion Standard and    Champion and Reserve Champion Bantam or your choice.

            * There will be a separate meeting room from the show for your club meeting and we will provide a nice tablecloth         table for you to use in our reception building as a National table.

            * Finally we would refund to your club $1.00 per Polish entered up to a maximum of  $200.00 in cash money to         distribute by your club as you would like.  You will receive the monies about 2 weeks before the show.  You can then           place it in your envelopes if you choose to be distributed at the show.  Just let us know what works well for your club.

The Wisconsin International Poultry show is the largest poultry show in Wisconsin.  Our show has attracted breeders from all over the United States and Canada.  Our show uses 3 very well lit buildings and is always single decked.  Our show averages nearly 1800 birds and over 150 exhibitors.  Wisconsin is a great place to visit in the fall and we welcome you to come visit us.

Sincerely,
